MERRY CHRISTMAS & A HAPPY NEW YEAR

Once again another exciting year is slowly coming to an end, and with it time has arrived to  look back and remember all the many memorable events which we  hosted in 2001. All this excitement would not have been possible without the hole hearted support of our best treasured jewels. "OUR GUESTS". And for this we will always be grateful to you.

2001 IN REVIEW

2001 marked the completion of our village center where we can host parties for up to 400 guests. At the same time we completed two very beautiful three bedroom villas in Rumah Bali. Our Balinese  cooking classes received a new kitchen, which is big enough to  host groups for up to 12 participants.
Bumbu Bali continued to be very popular among guests and travelers which where looking for a through Balinese culinary experience. Finally our own production of a CD-Rom on the Food of Bali has a last gone to the printers and we expect delivery by January 20.

HAPPENINGS IN 2002

Despite the dramatic changes  over the passed months, we look forward to welcome 2002 with open arms and lots of confidents. It will be our aim to continue with our efforts to promote Bali's great culture and foremost it's cuisine. Beside our efforts here in Bali, we have already confirmed several

Not only will this food promotions give us tremendous exposure on the international market, put will give several of our Chef's a chance to travel overseas and gain a lot of new experience in different kitchens.  This new experience will hopefully help us to improve the overall quality in our operations. At the same time we will have a chance  to spread the word that Bali has not only good food, but is also an island with  magnificent sights, and lots of great people  which await to welcome and serve you. 

BUMBU BALI, RESTAURANT & COOKING SCHOOL

We will continue with our ongoing  renovation program, to be certain that we can present Bali's only real Balinese restaurant always in it's best costume.

 Wednesday's and Friday's will feature two different cultural performances, and for lovers of Bali's famous Suckling Pig (Babi Guling), Friday will be the day to mark in your calendar. Please remember to make reservations as space is often a problem.                                                                                                   

COOKING SCHOOL

It is quiet amazing to see how cooking has gained worldwide  so much popularity.  In the passed the better half of the family was almost imprisoned in the kitchen, and when ever possible the other half was banned from venturing in to other cultures and cuisines.
On this line we witness a continues growth in the size of our classes. which we now limited  to 12 participants. In a group this size each "Balinese Master Chef" will have a chance to personally prepare most of the 25 recipes. Beside our three normal programs, we also offer tailor made programs for larger groups and  incentives.    

RUMAH BALI, BALINESE VILLAGE

Construction for the last part of our  village development is currently well on its way, and should be completed by July 15. This last phase includes three one-bed room villas and 8 oversized family rooms which offer  an impressive 70m2 of living space. The highlight of this rooms development will be a 20 meter feature pool. Each room or villa will have direct access to the pool. There will also be one room for handicapped visitors. All villas and rooms will offer great value for money, and include lots of extras like personal butler service, your own car with driver for eight hours daily, daily breakfast, tennis court and many more surprises.

TURTLES

We are still  fully commitment towards the protection of this lonely wanderers of the oceans. Our daily visits to the market in Jimbaran will ensure that the occasional court turtles here in Bali  do not end up in the stew pot, but on the back of our truck which will bring them back to a  isolated beach,  where we will give this magnificent  reptiles back to nature. We do the same with  turtle eggs, which  often are traded at the markets for consumption. When ever we find this eggs we will purchase them, and re burry them back in to the sand. The hatchlings will then be released  back to nature.
On several trips to our neighboring island of Lombok we have seen the same problems as here in Bali. Perhaps this note finds a reader on this great island, which is interested to start a similar project. Please do contact myself if your are interested to join our commitment to nature. On a very positive note we have to congratulate the Government of Bali for stopping the trade of Green turtles. In the same village where in the passed thousands of turtles where traded and slaughtered, the Government has now set up together with the people of Tanjung Benoa a turtle breading an protection program.
Sunday, December 23 marked the inauguration of this new program. The ceremony was attended by the Governor of Bali, and most of the community leaders, the traders and the fisherman.
